Description | The Department is seeking a partner to perform farming activities within Sterling State Park . Farming activities within Michigan State Park and Recreation Area boundaries is used as a tool in helping prevent the spread of non - native species into public land . By controlling the type of plant species that grow in these areas , the land can more easily be transitioned to wildlife habitat in the future . The total area to be farmed is approximately 13 . 5 acres . Annually , prior to conducting farming activities , the selected bidder will be required to submit a Farming Plan for Department approval prior to beginning operations . The Farming Plan must include the type of crop or crops to be planted and the following if used : fertilizer , pesticide and / or weed - control product information such as the amount , brand , and application method . |
