1 . Traffic paint shall be applied when pavement surface temperatures are fifty ( 50 ) degrees F or above . Weather conditions and pavement surfaces shall be dry . 2 . Mainline striping paint shall be applied using a truck mounted airless system with a minimum 500 - gallon capacity with spray guns designed and adjusted to apply paint at the required thickness and width followed by drop - on reflective glass beads application . 3 . Material for application of traffic marking paint shall be in accordance with the Missouri Standard Specifications for Highway Construction , Division 1000 , Material Details and specifically as follows : ACRYLIC WATERBORNE FAST DRY PAVEMENT MARKING PAINT AS PER SECTION 1048 . 4 . Paint shall be applied according to Missouri Standard Specifications for Highway Construction , 2025 Edition , Section 620 . 4 . Paint shall be applied in a one ( 1 ) coat application to a minimum wet thickness of 15 mils . Line width shall be 4 inches or as otherwise required . Reflective glass beads shall be applied at a rate of 8 pounds per gallon of paint . 5 . Painting contractor shall examine the streets to be painted and shall inform the Assistant Director of Public Works or his representative if additional cleaning of the streets is necessary prior to painting . City forces will clean a street area as needed .
