TOWING SERVICES

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES TO BE PERFORMED OR SUPPLIES PURCHASED : The Boston Police Department , acting by its Police Commissioner , is seeking contract proposals for the towing of disabled vehicles and motor vehicles held for evidentiary purposes in accordance with the contract requirements . The scope of the work shall include all aspects of scheduled and non - scheduled towing services to and from sites located within the greater Boston area as directed by the Department . This service agreement shall commence on July 1 , 2026 and terminate on June 30 , 2029 . The contractor shall provide all labor and equipment necessary for the safe and proper execution of the work and shall have in his employ individuals skilled in the removal and transportation of disabled motor vehicles . The contractor shall be required to respond rapidly to all calls ( within thirty ( 30 ) minutes of an initial call for a tow ) and shall operate on a continuous 24 hour per day , 7 day per week , basis . The contractor shall have and maintain all certificates , licenses and permits required by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles , the City of Boston Inspectional Services Department and the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities as they may apply to tow facilities , equipment and personnel for all work performed under the terms of this agreement . In order to fulfill the intent of this agreement , the contractor shall be required to own and operate all equipment as specified in section D of this document . The contractor assumes all liability for the safety and security of each vehicle in his / her possession . The contractor shall maintain insurance at adequate levels and in sufficient form so as to indemnify the City against any and all claims that may arise through the execution of this agreement . ( See attached Insurance Requirements .) Payment for services provided under the terms of this agreement shall be on a unit cost per tow basis . The department estimates its annual towing requirements to involve approximately 900 responses by the vendor . Invoicing shall be on a monthly basis , and all requests for payment shall be accompanied by a service slip signed by a representative of the Department . Each signature shall include the representative ' s rank and department I . D . number . All towing slips shall contain the following information : a ) the name , rank and I . D . number of the individual requesting the service ; b ) the general nature of the equipment failure ; c ) the location from where the unit was towed ; d ) the location to where the unit was towed ; and e ) the times associated therewith .
