Trail Clearing ( a ) This work consists of clearing , grubbing , and removal of rock and roots within the trail corridor . It includes trimming , removing , disposing of , or treating live and dead timber , construction slash , and debris within the trail limits as shown on EXHIBIT A - 1 , PROJECT AREA MAP indicated by on - site flagging . Protection of standing trees from damage or defacement is required , and damaged trees shall be treated or removed as directed by the City . ( b ) The cleared trail corridor shall conform to the dimensions shown on EXHIBIT B . ( c ) All debris , trees , logs , branches , brush , plants , rocks , roots , and other protruding obstructions within the clearing limits shall be removed and disposed of in accordance with subsection ( h ), except : • Live , sound , firmly rooted trees with a diameter at breast height ( DBH ) of three ( 3 ) inches or greater . • Live brush and herbaceous vegetation between the trailway and clearing limits that is less than twelve ( 12 ) inches in height and less than one - half ( ½ ) inch in diameter at ground line . ( d ) All limbs extending into the clearing limits shall be cut flush with the trunk or stem or cut at ground level . Where a tree is significantly limbed on one side , opposing limbs shall be removed to maintain balanced form . ( e ) Clearing operations shall not damage bark or standing timber . Any damage shall be repaired or mitigated to the satisfaction of the City . Trees rendered unstable due to exposed roots shall be felled and disposed of as specified ...
