Description
Description | Recognizing the need for modernization , CEPI and DTMB leadership have invested in lean process improvement ( LPI ) sessions . These efforts have coalesced around the need to modernize the State ’ s education data ecosystem through the development of a robust , scalable , and flexible environment that is underpinned by a unified education data system that connects data collection , processing , and analysis capabilities and services . These efforts are integral to improving customer experience ; improving data quality and reducing rework ; and positioning CEPI to cut the costs of operations and modernization . To meet these needs , the State is entering into a license agreement with the State of Mississippi to use the MSIS 2 . 0 application as the foundation for a new State of Michigan application . This project seeks to enhance the foundational blocks of MSIS to establish a CEDS - aligned , Unified Education Data Modernization system , enabling the DTMB Agency Services and CEPI to reduce operational costs and the cost of future modernizations . Enhancements and new developments will be shared with Mississippi to enhance their MSIS 2 . 0 application . The license agreement will be expanded to other states in the future , so the solution can be leveraged into a national application with each state utilizing a shared foundation and license but maintaining their own customizations and modules .
