1 . Demolition a . Remove the existing roof system down to the existing roof deck . b . Remove all existing flashing and penetration details . c . Remove existing edge / coping / counterflashing metal details . 2 . Application : a . Mechanically fasten a layer of ¼ ” Dens Deck directly over the metal deck . b . Install Versiply 40 in Generic Type III asphalt over newly installed dens deck as the vapor barrier . Vapor barrier must wrap up and over all vertical substrates and completely wrap around any penetrations . 1 ) For Blower Building , prime existing concrete deck with Garla - Prime asphalt primer and install Versiply 40 vapor barrier in Generic Type III asphalt . Vapor barrier must wrap up and over all vertical substrates and completely wrap around penetrations . c . Fully adhere 2 layers of 2 ” poly iso insulation to achieve a minimum R - 20 base layer on insulation in either high - rise foam adhesive or Generic Type III hot asphalt . 1 ) For Blower Building , install 1 ” base layer of Polyisocyanurate insulation and then ¼ ” sloped full tapered Polyisocyanurate insulation . 2 ) All saddles / crickets are to be ½ ” where necessary to ensure positive drainage . d . Fully adhered in high - rise foam adhesive or generic type III hot asphalt ½ ” crickets and / or saddles where necessary to ensure positive drainage . e . Install a fully adhered ¼ ” wood fiber cover board in high - rise foam adhesive or generic type III hot asphalt . f . Install FlexBase 80 , an SBS modified bitumen base sheet to the field and all flashing details in generic type III hot asphalt at the recommended application coverage rate . g . Install StressPly , a smooth SBS modified bitumen cap sheet to the field and Legacy FR Mineral , a mineral surfaced SBS modified bitumen cap sheet to all flashing details in generic type III hot asphalt at the recommended application coverage rates . h . All vertical seams are to receive a 3 - course of Silver Flash and fabric reinforcement . i . Install new ANSI - SPRI ES1 rate coping , edge metal , and counterflashing details . j . Install an asphalt - based Flood and Gravel surfacing , using WeatherScreen asphalt at a coverage rate of 5 gal ./ sq . and 3 / 8 ” washed stone . k . Material manufacturer ’ s representative to inspect progress of job 2 - 3 days per week and provide City of Niles weekly progress reports .
