The Long Beach Public Utilities Department ( LBPUD ) is requesting quotations to furnish and deliver WHOLE BACKFLOW ASSEMBLIES AND BACKFLOW ASSEMBLY REPAIR KITS in accordance to the LBPUD needs and / or fund availability . Listed on the bid form are descriptions of the products required together with the estimated quantities to be purchased during the contract period . The quantities represent estimates of LBPUD purchases during the contract period . Bidders are cautioned not to rely on past usage for quantities . LBPUD purchases are based on its actual needs and requirements . LBPUD reserves the right to purchase either more or less than the values provided . All parts in contact with potable water shall be fabricated from approved no lead / ultra low lead material containing residual lead levels that shall not exceed a maximum of 0 . 25 % weighted average lead content as per California Health and Safety Code Section 116875 . Moreover , said parts in contact with drinking water supply shall be certified as suitable for contact with potable water in compliance with ANSI / NSF Standard 61 , Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects . Parts not in contact with potable water shall comply with the requirements of ASTM B62 and ASTM B584 Copper Alloy Number C83600 or C84400 respectively . All backflow assemblies 2 - 1 / 2 ” and greater shall be flange by flange ; All backflow assemblies from size ½ ” to 2 ” shall have ball valve shut offs . All backflow assemblies of larger sizes shall have a domestic shut off , unless the option is not available from the manufacturer .
