Williston Profiler Certification Test Track Resurface

Please note : This is a Sole Source Notification . The State Materials Office ( SMO ) has developed a resurfacing plan for the Inertial Profiler Certification Track located at Williston Airport in Williston , Florida . This project is necessary due to the deterioration of the existing pavement surfaces , which consists of an open - graded friction course ( FC - 5 ) and a dense - graded friction course ( FC - 12 . 5 ). The current condition of the track has reduced the ability to achieve consistent and repeatable measurements , thereby impacting the reliability of inertial profiler certification . To restore the integrity of the certification process and ensure compliance with AASHTO R56 requirements for inertial profiler certification , the existing FC - 5 and FC - 12 . 5 surfaces will be removed from the Certification Sections , Lead - in Section , and cul - de - sac . The Certification Sections will be resurfaced with both FC - 5 and FC - 12 . 5 to maintain continuity with established testing conditions . To improve durability and reduce long - term maintenance needs , the Lead - out Section and cul - de - sac will be resurfaced with FC - 12 . 5 . Additionally , the Lead - out Section will be extended to connect with an existing taxiway to enhance operational efficiency and provide a more consistent approach for testing . V . E . Whitehurst & Sons , Inc . is the original contractor for the test track . The asphalt mix designs used are proprietary to V . E . Whitehurst and are not transferable ; thereby , ensuring material consistency and preserving the integrity of historical certification baselines .
