Description

Description

The project involves reconstructing the auxiliary spillway ( 300 - Foot in width ) by removing erodedalluvium , excavating gullies and damaged areas , and preparing a stable subgrade foundation . Therepaired spillway will be rebuilt with compacted earthfill placed in controlled lifts and compacted tospecified moisture and density requirements , using primarily on - site CL - type soils verified throughlaboratory testing . A six - inch veneer of lime - treated earthfill ( LTE ), containing approximately 4 % quicklime by weight , will be applied over the finished grade to reduce desiccation cracking and minimizesurface erosion ( rilling ), though it is not intended to serve as a hydraulic or structural component . Theproject also includes reconstructing damaged containment dikes , disposing of unsuitable materials , andplacing topsoil on areas not covered by LTE to blend the spillway with surrounding terrain . Constructionquality will be monitored through compaction , pH , and plasticity testing , and the finished LTE surfacewill be textured to reduce runoff impacts . Periodic inspection and maintenance , including regrading andrecompaction of rilled areas , will be required as part of normal operation . See more
